The purpose of the
Early Childhood Ministries is to afford each child the
opportunity to experience the love and acceptance of
Jesus Christ through a caring Christian environment
staffed by people who are dedicated to affirming each
child as a unique child of God and to encourage
spiritual, social, intellectual, emotional, and
physical development with respect for that uniqueness.
The Philosophy of Early Childhood
Ministries aims to expand the child's perception of
God, of himself, of other people, and of the physical
world in which God has placed him.
Activities and experiences will be
oriented to goals specified in the curriculum
guidelines, and a balance among large group, small
group, and individual work and play will be
incorporated in to each day's indoor and outdoor
activities.
Children will be given freedom to
create, explore, and to experiment in their world of
reality and to accept individual differences.
Opportunities will be provided for each child to learn
to make choices and to foster his independence.
Lutheran Ministry in Christ Church
was organized in 1972. The congregation is
active in the community service as reflected in its
numerous and varied ministries. One of its most
visible educational ministries is its preschool
program. Since its inception in 1976 as a
"Mother's Morning off" co-op, the Early
Childhood Ministries has grown to include both
part-time and full-time programs for infants to five
years of age. Over 200 children and their
families are touched by this outreach ministry each
year.
